NOTIFICATION

          Applications are invited from qualified candidates for appointment in the under mentioned post in Kerala Government Service.

1.     Department                          :  Commercial Taxes

2.     Name of post                        :  Sales Tax Officer

3.     Scale of pay                          :  Rs. 6500-10550

4.     Number of vacancy               : 9 (Nine)

               The above vacancy is now in existence. The list of selected candidates published by the Commission in response to this notification shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year provided that the said list will continue to be in force till the publication of a new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year or till the expiry of three years whichever is earlier.  Candidates will be advised from the said list against the vacancy noted  above   and that may be reported to the Commission in writing during  the  period of currency of the list.

6.  Age Limit                                  : Must have completed 18 (Eighteen) years and must not have completed 36 (Thirty six) years as on 01.01.2006. with usual relaxation to SC/ST and OBC  candidates (for conditions regarding the age relaxation – please see Para (2) of the General Conditions.)

NOTE:- Persons working in the Commercial Tax Subordinate  Service will be allowed five years relaxation in the upper age limit.

7.  Qualifications:- (i) Graduation with a Degree in Law.

                                                OR

                            (ii) A pass in Chartered Accountant (Inter) as defied  

                                in the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Central

                                Act 38 of 1949)

                                                 OR

                            (iii) Master’s Degree in Commerce.

                                                 OR

                             (iv) Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance)

Training:- Every person appointed to this post shall from the date of his appointment, undergo such training as may be prescribed by the Government from time to time and will commence probation in the post only after successful completion of training.  Such person shall, until he has completed the training, be entitled only to such allowances as may be specified by Government from time to time.  The period of training shall not count for increment in the time scale of pay applicable to the post.

Probation:- Every person appointed to this post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years within a continuous period of three years.

          A probationer shall pass the following tests within a period of probation if he has not already passed them.

1. Accountant Test (Lower)…. 4 Papers

2. Agricultural Income Tax and Sales Tax Test (Part.I, II and III)

8.  Application Form:-  The application form is single sheet of paper specially designed for processing through Optical Mark reader (OMR) also.  Candidates have to fill up both sides of the application.   Each application form contain a unique eight digit barcode on Side A.  This barcode number is unique for each application.  The candidate has to quote this number for further enquiries.

The application forms will be available in the Post Offices  inside  the  State and  Offices of the  Kerala Public Service Commission.

          The cost of application form is Rs. 10/- (Rupees Ten).  The cost of application for SC/ST candidates is Rs.5/- (Rupees   Five ) only. An information brochure will be supplied with the application form.  Candidates should read the instructions carefully before filling up the

form. Candidates should not enclose any documents along with the application. The copies of documents to prove educational   qualification, Experience, community, Age, etc should be submitted as and when called for by the Commission.

9. Candidate shall send his application in the envelope supplied with the application forms.

          Applications should be submitted in the form devised and printed by the Commission.  Application otherwise submitted will be summarily rejected.

10. Mode of sending the applications:-

(a) The name of the post, the Category Number and the Department of the respective post should be clearly noted at the top of the envelope.

(b) The name and address of the candidate shall be entered at the bottom left hand corner and the address to which applications are to be send at the bottom right hand corner of the envelope.
