Qualifications

Group I (Subjects 1-6)

(i)  Master’s Degree in the concerned Subjects with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the respective subject by any university in Kerala

(ii) (1) B.Ed in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any University in Kerala.

      (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala

(3) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (1) and (2) above, persons with B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala.

(iii) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test for the post of Higher Secondary School Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the State Government.

Note:- (1) In the absence of B.Ed. Degree holders, candidates having Master’s Degree with not less than 50% marks and who have passed State Eligibility Test will be considered.  Preference will be given to those who have acquired Ph.D Degree or M.Phil Degree or qualified at Junior Research Fellowship/National Eligibility Test.  The teachers appointed under this provision will have to acquire B.Ed. Degree at their own expense within 5 years from the date of entry in service.           

(2) Those who have passed Language Teachers Training Course are exempted from acquiring B.Ed. Qualification.

(3) Persons who have acquired M.Ed in the subject concerned recognized by any University in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed. Qualification.

 

Qualifications

Group I (Subjects 7-12)

i)  Master’s Degree in the concerned Subjects with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the respective subject by any university in Kerala.

(ii) (1) B.Ed in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala

      (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala

(3) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (1) and (2) above, persons with B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala.

                                                    OR

M.Sc.Ed.in the concerned subject with not less than 50% marks from any one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT)

(iii) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test for the post of Higher Secondary School Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the State Government.

Note:- (1)   Persons who have acquired M.Ed in the subject concerned recognized by any University in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed. Qualification

 

Qualifications

Group I (Subjects 13-16)

13. Political Science  14. History  15. Economics  16. Commerce

 

(i)  Master’s Degree in the concerned Subjects with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the respective subject by any university in Kerala

(ii) (1) B.Ed in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala

      (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala

(3) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (1) and (2) above, persons with B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala.

                                                   

(iii) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test for the post of Higher Secondary School Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the State Government

Note:- (1)   Persons who have acquired M.Ed in the subject concerned recognized by any University in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed. Qualification.           

 

Qualification

Sociology

 

(i)  Master’s Degree in the concerned Subjects with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the respective subject by any university in Kerala.

(ii) (1) B.Ed in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala

      (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala

      (3) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (1) and (2) above, persons with B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala.                                                   

(iii) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test for the post of Higher Secondary School Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the State Government.

Note:- (1)  In the absence of B.Ed holders, candidates having Master’s Degree with not less than 50% marks and who have passed the State Eligibility Test will be considered.  Preference will be given to those who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil Degree or qualified at Junior Fellowship/National Eligibility Test.  The teachers appointed under this provision will have to acquire B.Ed at their own expenses within five years from the date of entry in service.

            (2)  Persons who have acquired M.Ed in the subject concerned recognized by any University in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed. Qualification.

EXEMPTIONS (For Posts 1-17)

 

1. Those persons who have passed the State Level Eligibility Test for the post of College Lecturers conducted by Government of Kerala are exempted from passing the State Eligibility Test for Higher Secondary School Teachers.

 

2. Those persons who have passed the National Eligibility Test/Junior Research Fellowship shall be exempted from passing the State Eligibility Test.

 

3. Persons with Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed.Degree shall be exempted from passing the State Eligibility Test provided the M.Phil in the concerned subject should be one awarded by any of the Universities in Kerala or recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala.

Higher Secondary School Teacher (Junior) means Part-Time post of Higher Secondary School Teacher.

Note:3

Separate Ranked List will be prepared and published for each subject mentioned in para-2 above.  The lists of selected candidates published by the Commission in response to this notification shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year provided that the said list will continue in force till the publication of a new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year or till the expiry of three years whichever is earlier.  Candidates will be advised from the said lists against the vacancies noted above and that may be reported to the Commission in writing during the period of currency of the lists.

Applications should be sent to Thiruvananthapuram/Kannur Unit in response to this notification.  Candidates should submit applications  for this post to the District Officer, Thiruvananthapuram/Kannur and should note the name of the ThiruvananthapuramUnit/Kannur Unit against the relevant column in side ‘B’ and should darken the bubbles in side ‘A’  of the application.  The  address of the District Officer to which applications are to be sent is furnished in Column (10) of the notification.

The selection in pursuance of this notification will be made on a Unit basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O.(MS)No.92/80/Home dated, 24.09.1980. A candidate advised for  appointment in one unit from the ranked list prepared is not eligible for transfer to another unit unless he completed 5 years continuous service from the date of commencement of service  in the former unit.  Even if transfer is allowed after 5 years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O.(MS)No.4/61/Pddated, 2.1.1961.  But transfer within the same unit will be allowed within 5 years,  Candidates already in Government service holding this post in any one unit are prohibited from applying again for this post.

The recruitment of Male Warder in the Jails Department is being done  on unitwise, a candidate thus appointed in Thiruvananthapuram/Kannur Unit is bound to serve in any of the institutions under the jurisdiction of Thiruvananthapuram/Kannur Unit which includes Thiruvananthpuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha/ & Palakkad, Malappuram ,Kozhikode,Kannur,Wayanad Kasaragod Districts.

  (b) Must be 81.3 cms round the chest on full expiration and must have chest expansion of at least 5 cms
  Note Height of 160 cms will be sufficient for SC/ST candidates

Other qualifications being equal, the Home guard volunteers who have completed the term of 3 years in that organization and who have undergone training during the period of tenure satisfactorily, will be treated as having additional or desirable qualification

       Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified below without     glasses (Medical Certificate from   a Medical Officer  not below the Rank of an Assistant Surgeon should be produced when called for

                       (b) High Jump                              -    132.20 cms (4’6 “)

                             Long Jump                              -    457.20 cms  (15 feet)

                       (c)  Rope climbing (by using hands only) – 365.80 cms (12 feet)
