6.	Age Limit					:	Must have completed 20 (Twenty) years and must not have completed 39 (Thirty Nine) years as on 01.01.2006. (for conditions regarding the age relaxation-Please see Para (2) of the General Conditions).
7.	Qualifications				:
		1.		S.S.L.C or its equivalent qualification.
		2.		(i) Seagoing Engine Driver’s Certificate issued by the Ministry of Transport, Government of India with service at sea on costal vessels of at least 1000 BHP as watch keeping Engineer for three years. Preference within the meaning of G.O.(MS) No.50/70/PD dated 12.02.1970 as amended by G.O.(MS) No.246/70/PD dated 21.07.1970 will be given to those with Part A of the second Class Ministry of Transport Engineer Examination or with “See Time” for Part ‘A’ of the second class Ministry of Transport Engineer Examination. OR
				(ii) Service at sea for a minimum period of 10 years on seagoing vessels of at least 1000 BHP as watch keeping Engineer. Preference will be given to those with Part ‘A’ of the second class ministry of Transport Engineer Examination or with ‘Sea Time’ for Part ‘A’ of the second class Ministry of Transport Engineer Examination. OR
				(iii) Service in Indian Navy for a minimum period of 10 years on a seagoing vessel of at least 1000 BHP as watch keeping Engineer. Preference will be given to those with Part ‘A’ of the second class ministry of Transport Engineer Examination or with ‘Sea Time’ for Part ‘A’ of the second class Ministry of Transport Engineer Examination. OR (iv) Fishing Engineer Certificate issued by the Central Institute of Fisheries, Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET) of Government of India with Three years service in charge of vessel of at least 500 BHP
		3.		In the absence of candidates with the qualifications mentioned under item (1) and (2) (i) Pass in Standard IX (New) and (ii) First Class Certificate of Driver under the Inland Steam Vessel Act, 1917 (Central Act I of 1917) with three years experience as Engine Driver under any State Government in India

	8.		Application Form: The application form is a single sheet of paper specially designed for processing through the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) also. Candidates have to fill up both sides of application. Each application form contains a unique 8 digit Barcode on side A. This barcode number is unique for each application. The candidate has to quote this number for further enquiries. Application fee is Rs.10/- for SC/ST candidates application Fee is Rs.5/- no document should be enclosed with the application. Copies of documents to prove Educational Qualification, Experience/Service, Community, Age etc. should be submitted as and when they are called for by the Commission.

In case persons with the experienced qualifications are not available, persons with the other two academic qualifications shall be selected and sent for three months training in a registered Dental Equipment producing Company. The period of training will not be counted for probation or other service benefits

	Note:- 1				The genuiness of the certificate will be subjected to verification and if found bogus, legal action will be taken against the authorities who issued and the candidates who produce bogus certificate.

The application form is a single sheet of paper specially designed for processing through Optical Mark Reader (OMR) also. Candidates have to fill up both sides of application form. Each application form contains a unique eight digit barcode on Side A. This barcode number is unique for each application. The candidates has to quote this number for further enquiries. The application forms will be available in the Post Offices inside the State and Offices of the Kerala Public Service Commission. The cost of the application form is Rs.10. The cost of the application form for SC/ST candidates is Rs.5/-. An information brochure will be supplied with the application form, candidates should read the instruction carefully before filling up the forms. Candidates should not enclose any documents along with the application.
