Note: The list of selected candidates published by the Commission shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year and a maximum period of three years provided that the said list will not continue to be in force if a new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year is published. 5. Method of appointment: Direct Recruitment (from among Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes only)

Note: Applications received from candidates other than Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates will be rejected. Individual communications regarding the rejection of their applications for the above reason will not be issued.

6. Age limit: Should have completed 20 (Twenty ) years and should not have completed 40 (Forty) years as on 01.01.2007. (No other age relaxation will be allowed)

NOTE: In the absence of qualified candidates within the age limit the upper age limit shall be relaxed upto 50 years. But in no case the maximum age limit shall exceed 50 (Fifty) years.

7. Qualifications:

1. B.SC Degree in Mechanical Engineering of the Kerala University or its equivalent .

2. B E Degree in Mechanical Engineering of the Madras University or its equivalent.

3. Associate membership Diploma of the Institution of Engineers (India) in Mechanical Engineering or any other qualifications recognized as equivalent to a degree.

4. Pass in Sections A and B of the Associate Membership Examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) in Mechanical Engineering.

5. Any other qualification recognized by the Government as equivalent to B.Sc Degree in Mechanical Engineering of the Kerala University.

Probation:

Every person appointed to any of the post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years of duty within a continuous period of three years.

Liability to serve in the Defence Services:

Persons appointed to the post shall be liable, notwithstanding that at the time of requisition of their services, they are holding higher appointment, to serve for a minimum period of 4 years (including periods spent on training of any) in the Defence Services or on assignment relating to Defence efforts anywhere in India or abroad if so required. This liability to serve in the defence service will be limited to the first 10 years of service and will not be ordinarily apply to persons above 40 years of age.

The barcode number in the application form shall be quoted in all further enquiries/ correspondence. Documents to prove qualification, age and community have to be produced as and when called for. Applications which are submitted not in accordance with the instruction given in the website will be summarily rejected.

A basic degree from a recognized university in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 50%marks in the final year degree examination qualifying for the degree or any other qualification recognized by Government as equivalent.

Note : In the case of I^st or II^nd class Post-Graduated degree holders, the prescribed minimum of 50% marks in the final year examination of Basic degree will not be insisted on.
