            Appointment to Departmental Quota (Category II and III) will be made by Direct Recruitment from I and II Grade Draughtsman/Overseer and III Grade Overseers/Tracers who have rendered not less than 2 years service and clerks, Typists, Typist – Clerks or Confidential Assistants who have rendered not less than 6 years service in concerned Departments.  (Candidates working in the above post on provisional basis are not eligible to apply for the post.) Note ii). Note iii).	Candidates appointed in the post should serve for four years within the first ten years of their service (including the period of training) in the Defence Service or Services connected with Defence in India or abroad.  This compulsory service is not ordinarily applicable to those who have completed 40 years of age.  Candidates should specify the Category No. of the post to which they intend to apply, on the top of the application form.
Note iv)	Separate Ranked List will be prepared for each Category. For Category 1, the Ranked List shall be a common list for both PWD (Roads and Buildings) and Irrigation Department.  Candidates will be advised from the list as per the requisition from both Departments (Para 7 of Sub Para XXI of G.O(P)27/90/PWD Irrigation dated 29.3.90)

5.  Age Limit:

            For Direct Recrutment (Category I) Must have completed 21 (twenty one) years and must not have completed 39(thirty nine) years as on 1.1.2007.

        For Departmental Quota (Category II and Category III)  Must have completed 21 years as on 01.01.2007.  The upper age limit is not applicable to these selections.  But in no case, the upper age limit shall exceed 50 (fifty) years.

6.  Qualification: From  Category I, II and  III

A  i	B Sc/B Tech Degree in Engineering (Civil) of the Kerala University or B.E Degree (Civil) of the Madras University or any other qualification recognised as equivalent thereto                                       OR
ii	Associate Membership Diploma of the Institution of Engineers, India, in Civil Engineering or any other Diploma recognised as equivalent thereto                                                                     OR
iii	Pass in sections ‘A’ and ‘B’ of the Associate Membership Examinations of the Institution of Engineers, India, in Civil Engineering.
B. Conditions

1)      Every candidate shall be prepared physically to carry out the repairs and maintenance of balances.

2)      Every candidate on selection shall execute an agreement in such form as may be  prescribed by Government undertaking to serve the Legal Metrology Department  of the Government of Kerala at least for a period of five years.

Training

1)      Every person appointed as Technical Assistant shall undergo training for a period not exceeding six months in the Government of India Mint, Bombay and/or in a factory of a recognized  manufacturer of working standard balances.

2)      During the period of training, the trainee shall be paid the pay and allowances       admissible to him from time to time but for the deputation and also traveling      allowance according to the rules in the Kerala Service Rules.  The training       period  shall be treated as duty as defined in Sub Clause (III) of Clause (7) of        rule 12 of  Part I of Kerala Service  Rules.

Conditions of Service:-

a.      Training:- Every candidate selected for appointment as Police Constable (Tele Communication) shall undergo 9 months of normal training.
