7. Qualifications:-
B.Sc./B.Tech Degree in Engineering (Civil) of the Kerala University.
OR
B.E Degree (Civil) of the Madras University
OR
Any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto.
OR
Associate Membership Diploma of the Institution of Engineers (India) in Civil Engineering or any other Diploma recognised as equivalent thereto.
OR
Pass in section A and B of the Associate Membership Examination in Civil Engineering of the Institution of Engineers (India).
Liability to Serve in the Defence Service
Persons appointed to the post shall be liable, not withstanding that at the time of requisition of their service they are holding higher appointments; to serve for a minimum period of 4 (four) years (including the period spent on training) in the defence service or on assignments relating to Defence efforts any where in India or abroad if so required. The liability to serve in the Defence Service shall be limited to the first 10(Ten) years of service and shall not ordinarily apply to persons above 40 (forty) years of age.

Any other Degree or Diploma in Homoeopathy declared as equivalent to the above in respect of the duration of the course, course content and House Surgeoncy/Internship provided all such qualifications are included in the second schedule of the Homoeopathy Central Council Act 1973. (Central Act 59 of 1973)
(2) Successful completion of House Surgeoncy/Internship.
(3) ‘A’ Class Registration with the Registrar of Medical Council of Kerala.

Note : Diploma in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology obtained after undergoing a regular course of study for not less than 3 years with 60% marks in the qualifying examination and a pass in Section A and B of AMIE will be considered as equivalent to a degree of Engineering,
Probation : Every person appointed in the post shall from the date on which he join duty be on probation for a total period of Two years on duty within a continuous period of Three years.
