Applications are invited from qualified candidates for appointment in the under mentioned post in Kerala Government Service.

(2) Category No. 316/2007 – Graduate Ministerial Staff of Police and Vigilance Department, Fingerprint Experts, Fingerprint Searchers   of the Finger Print Bureau.

(3) Category No. 317/2007 – Graduate Police Constables, Head Constables and officers of the corresponding rank in the police Department.

            The vacancies will be apportioned among the above three categories in accordance with the orders contained in G O(MS)No.240/85/Home dated 30.12.1985 and G O (MS)N0.196/95/Home dated 26.07.1995. The relative seniority of the candidates in the above three categories will be decided on laid down in G O(MS)No.207/70/Home dated 05.10.1970.

(Relaxation in upper age limit is admissible as per para 2 of the General Conditions for all the 3 categories).

NOTE:-Women and Physically Handicapped candidates are not eligible to apply in response to this notification.

NOTE:-(1). The ranked list of candidates published buy the Commission in response to this notification shall cease to be in force after one year from the date of finalization of Ranked List or after one month from the date of commencement of the training in respect of the last batch of candidates advised from the ranked list within a period of one year from the date of finalization of the Ranked List whichever is later. Candidates will be advised from the said list against 10% of the vacancies reported and pending before the Commission for direct recruitment and 10% of the vacancies that may be reported to the Commission in writing during the period of currency of the list.

(2) Candidates from Ministerial Staff of Police Department and Vigilance Department and from the Constabulory can apply either for Open Competition or  for the quota reserved for them, but not for both categories. The candidates who intend to apply for recruitment against Category II &  III should specify the category at the top of the application form. If no  mention regarding the categories is made, the application will be dealt with as if for open market vacancies ie. Category I.  Separate Ranked List   will be prepared for each category. The relative seniority of the candidate in three categories will be decided as laid down in G O (MS)No.207/70/Home  dated 05.10.1970.

(3).The principles of Rules of reservations and rotation will apply only for Category I.  candidates under Category II & III will be advised on the basis of merit only.

(4) If sufficient number of suitable candidates are not available from the    Ministerial Staff, the vacancies reserved  for them will be filled up from the constabulary as per the provisions contained in G O (MS) No.196/95/Home dated 26.07.1995. If sufficient number of candidates are not available from the Ministerial or constabulary categories to fill up the quota reserved for them, the deficiency will be made good from open market .

7. Qualifications:

(a)        Should be a Graduate

(i) Graduate and Post Graduate in Criminology Social Work and Social Services will 

     be given due weightage.

(ii) In the case In the case of SC/ST candidates if sufficient number of fully qualified

     candidates are not available under Category I the applications of those who have

     passed intermediate, Pre University or Pre-Degree Examination or its equivalent

     will be considered only to fill up the quota reserved for them. Such candidates may

     note the Category number 318/2007. in the application.

b) Should be physically fit

c) Should have a height of 165.10cms.

d) Should possess a chest measurement of 81.28cms with an expansion of

      not less than 5.08cms.

Note:- 1) Taller persons will be given preference .

       2) A height of 160.02 cms will be sufficient for SC/ST candidates and

            no relaxation will be allowed to SC/ST candidates in the matter of

            chest measurement..

e). Eye Sight:- Must be certified to possess the visual standard specified

                       below without glasses

Note:- Each eye must have full field of vision- Colour blindness, squint or any morbid

            condition of the eye or lids of either eye will be a disqualification.

f). Candidates should produce at the time of interview a Medical Certificate in original in the form prescribed hereunder certifying to their physical fitness and eye sight without glasses obtained from any one of the following medical offices. The physical measurements of the candidates will however be taken at the time of Physical Efficiency and those who do not possess the prescribed physical standards at that time will not be admitted for the Physical Efficiency Test.

Note:- Details regarding standards of vision should be clearly stated in the            certificate, as given above, and vague statements such as vision “normal”,           “average” etc. will not be accepted. Specification for each eye should be            stated separately against each item. If the specifications are not as indicated            above, the Officer issuing the certificate should notify whether the            candidate has got better standards of vision or worse standards of vision, as            the case may be, otherwise the Certificate will not be accepted)

g) Military Training membership of NCC Sports etc. will be considered as      additional qualification.

h). In addition to the qualification prescribed above every candidate will be subjected to a Physical Efficiency Test. (The physical measurement of the candidates will be taken at the time of  physical efficiency test and those who do not possess the prescribed physical measurements will not be admitted for the physical efficiency test). Candidates must qualify in at least five out of the under mentioned eight events of one star standard which is the minimum requirement for recruitment.

i)  Conditions of Service:- On selelction, the candidates will be under training in the Police Training College for a period of one year. There after they will be on Practical Training for 10 ˝  months in the district.. The period of training in the Police Training College and period of practical Training in District will not be counted for the purpose of probation, increment, and Service. On appointment after successful completion of training, the candidates will be on probation for a period of 2 years on duty within a continuous period of 3 years from the date on which they take independent charge of the station. During the training in the Police Training College and Practical Training in the districts and till successful completion of probationary period each recruit will be given a stipend of Rs.5500/- per month. An initial kit allowance on Rs.225./- will be paid to each recruit if uniforms are not supplied.    

As per G O (MS) No.44/85/Home dated 25.02.1985 the Deputy Inspector General of Police is empowered to extend the period of training of the recruits whose performance is found to be unsatisfactory, subject to a maximum of six months in each case. Despite such extension, if the performance of the trainee does not improve, the matter will be brought to the notice of the Inspector General of Police (Head Quarters) and the Director General of Police and if they deem it necessary, will discharge the trainee from training after giving due notice to him.

The barcode number in the application form shall be quoted in all further enquiries/correspondence. Documents to prove qualification, age and community have to be produced as and when called for. Application which are submitted not in accordance with the instructions given in the website will be summarily rejected.
