Even if transfer is allowed after 5 years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O.(MS)No.4/61/PD dated 02.01.1961. Candidates already in Government service holding this post in any one district are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply to higher posts when notified.
5 Method of appointment : Direct Recruitment. (From among SIUC Nadar/AI and LC Communities)
6. Age limit : Should have completed 18 (Eighteen) years of age and should not exceed 42 (Forty two) years of age as on 01.01.2008 subject to the condition that the maximum age limit shall in no case exceed 50 years including the relaxation as per para 2 (i) of General conditions. For conditions regarding other age relaxation please see para 2 of the general conditions except para 2 (1)7. Qualifications:
A degree in the concerned subject and B.Ed/BT/ conferred or recognized by the Universities in Kerala (Concerned Subjects are specified in Note 3 below).
Note :(1) Post Graduates in concerned subject with B.Ed/BT in the concerned subject are also eligible to apply for the post.
(2) Diploma in Rural Service awarded by the National Council for Rural Higher Education will also be treated as equivalent to the Degree for the above purpose.
(3) The applicants should have taken Physics/Chemistry/Home Science as main subject for graduation. Degree in Geology (Main) with Physics and Chemistry as subsidiary subjects and B.Ed Degree (Physical Science) can also be considered as an alternative qualification for the post (G.O (MS) No. 195/96/G.Edn. Dated 02.07.1996)
(4) Post title degree holders are not eligible to apply for the post of High School Assistant.
(5) If there is a Written Test, the Question Papers for the Written Test will be in Malayalam. Candidates should answer the questions in Malayalam.
(6) The disciplines in which Degree and B.Ed Degree were obtained should be mentioned in brackets in column 6a on side ‘B’ of the application form.
(7) Those candidates who secured B.Ed/BT degrees from the Universities outside Kerala should note in the application form, the number and date of relevant orders declaring the said Degree as equivalent to those prescribed for this selection. The copies of such order shall be produced before the Commission as and when called for.
8. SPECIAL CONCESSIONS REGARDING APPOINTMENT AND AGE LIMIT
1. Preference will be given as laid down in GO (MS)No.50/70/PD dated 12.2.1970 and G.O (MS) 9/78/G. Edn. Dated 21.01.1978 to the wives of Jawans in the matter of recruitment as teachers, if they possess the prescribed qualifications. Soldiers in active service and those working in Base establishment are included under the terms ‘Jawans’. Such candidates should obtain proper certificates from the officer commanding stating the name, military rank and military address of their husbands and produce the same as and when required by the Commission (GO(MS) No..509/64/Edn. dated 19.09.1964, G.O (MS) No.614/65/Edn. dated 09.11.1965 and GO(MS) No.243/66/Edn. dated 27.05.1966).
Wives of Jawan should note on the top of side B of the applications from that they are wives of Jawans. The benefit will not be available to those candidates who do not state the aforesaid details in that manner, even if they produce relevant documents later.
2. First class scouts and guides will be given preference in the matter of appointment of teachers (G.O.M.S)No.122/75/G.Edn. dated 27.05.1975)
3. Teachers of the Government Primary and Nursery Schools who are graduates and are otherwise qualified will be exempted from upper age limit.(G.O.(M.S)No.185/70/Edn. dated 18.04.1970 and GO(MS) No.466 / 70/Edn. dated 11.11.1970). They should produce proper certificates from authorities concerned as and when required by the Commission.
Note: 1. Candidates who claim concessions in lieu of any of the above reason should state the fact in the relevant column on the side B and darken the bubble on side A of the application. Otherwise the applications are liable to be rejected presuming that they are over-aged candidates (for other conditions regarding age relaxations, please see para 2 of the general conditions). Upper age limit after allowing age relaxation as per rule should not exceed 50 years.

7. Qualifications:
a) Must possess the minimum general educational qualification of SSLC Standard with minimum aggregate marks of 40% or equivalent qualification.
b) Must have a good physique.Desirable: a) Possession of Certificate in Agricultural Science awarded by the National Council for Rural Higher Education. b) Pass in I Class in SSLC Examination or equivalent.
Note:- (1) Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
(2) Every person selected for appointment in this post shall undergo training for a period of one year on one of the Extension Training Centres in the State before appointment to the post. The training of a candidate will be terminated in the event of his conduct being found unsatisfactory or in case he is found inefficient during the period of training. The candidates will be appointed to the post only in case they satisfactorily complete the course of training The Rank and Seniority of the candidates selected for this post will be decided according to the order in which their names appear in the advice list furnished by the Public Service Commission. But in the case of those who fail to secure a pass after completion of the training in the first chance, their rank and seniority will be revised on the basis of the chances and marks they obtain in the subsequent chances. The period of training shall not count for probation.
(3) Every person to be appointed to the post will be required to execute a bond agreeing to serve the State Government for a period of 3 years after the training and re-imburse liquidated damages to the extent of Rs.1000/- in addition to the amount actually spent for the training in case they violate the term of agreement provided further that the terms of bond shall not be insisted on in respect of a person who leaves State Government Service for taking up appointment under the Central Government Service for or under an organization wholly or substantially financed and controlled either by the Government of India or by the State Government.

Note:- (1) Vacancies reported in writing from the schools under the control of Local Self Government Institutions shall also be filled up from the ranked list prepared as per this notification.
(2) Applications submitted by candidates belonging to the communities other than those notified will be summarily rejected. No rejection memo will be issued to such candidates.(3) A Ranked List will be prepared for Ernakulam district in pursuance of this notification. Ranked Lists thus prepared and published by the Commission shall remain in force until candidates are advised and appointed against the vacancies earmarked for the above community but remain unfilled due to the paucity of candidates during the currency of the Ranked List published for the post in the following district.

(4) Applications should be sent to Ernakulam district only in response to this notification where the vacancy is existing for their respective community and should note the name of that district against the relevant column in side `B` of the application and darken the relevant bubble in side ‘A’ of the OMR sheet. The address of the District Officer to which the applications are to be sent is furnished in column (11) of the notification.
(5) The selection in pursuance of the notification will be made on a revenue district basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O.(Ms.) No. 154/71/PD., dated 27-5-1971. A candidate advised for appointment in one revenue district from the Ranked List prepared is not eligible for transfer to another district unless he completes five years continuous service from the date of commencement of service in the former district. Even if transfer is allowed after five years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O.(Ms.) No. 4/61/PD., dated 2-1-1961. Candidates already in Government service holding this post in any one district are prohibited from applying again for this post.

6. Age limit : Should have completed 18 (Eighteen) years and should not have completed 42 (Forty two) years of age as on 01.01.2008. (Including the relaxation as per Para 2 (1) of General conditions)Note:- For concessions regarding other age relaxation subject to the condition that the maximum age limit shall in no case exceed 50 (Fifty) years. Universities in Kerala

A Title of Oriental Learning in Hindi awarded or
recognised by the Universities in Kerala
OR
Praveen of the Dakshina Bharatha Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras with a pass in SSLC Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Government Examinations, Kerala or its equivalent.
OR
Sahithyacharya of Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha with a pass in SSLC Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Government Examinations Kerala or its equivalent.
OR
Rashtra Bhasha Visarad (RBV) of the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha with a pass in SSLC Examination, conducted by the Commissioner for Government Examinations, Kerala or its equivalent.
OR
Hindi Bhooshan of Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha with a pass in SSLC Examination, conducted by the Commissioner for Government Examinations, Kerala or its equivalent.
OR
‘Acharya’ Title of the Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha with a pass in SSLC Examination, conducted by the Commissioner for Government Examinations, Kerala or its equivalent.

8. Special Concessions Regarding Appointment and Age Limit.(i) Preference will be given as laid down in G.O (Ms) No.50/70/PD dated 12.2.1970 and G.O (Ms) No.9/78/G.Edn. Dated 21.01.1978 to the Wives of Jawans in the matter of recruitment as Teachers, if they possess the prescribed qualifications. Soldiers in active service and those working in Base establishment are included under the terms of Jawans Wives of Jawans should note on the top of Side ‘B’ of the application form that they are Wives of Jawans. Such candidates should obtain proper certificates from the officer commanding stating the name, Military rank and Military address of their husbands and produce the same as and when required by the Commission [(G.O (Ms) No.509/ 64/ Edn. dated 19.09.1964, G.O (Ms) No.614/ 65/ Edn. dated 09.11.1965 and G.O (Ms) No. 243/ 66/ Edn. Dated 27.05.1966)].
(ii) First Class Scouts and Guides will be given preference in the matter of appointment as Teachers [G.O. (MS) No. 122/75/ G Edn. dt. 27.5.75].
Note:- The candidates who claim concessions in lieu of any of the above reason should state the fact in the relevant column of the Side ‘B’ and darken the bubble in side ‘A’ of application. Otherwise the applications are liable to be rejected presuming that they are over aged candidates.

10. Application form:-
The application form is a single sheet of paper printed on both sides to facilitate computer processing also using the Optical Mark Reader (OMR). Side ‘A’ is the OMR data sheet and Side ‘B’ is the conventional application form. The candidates must darken the bubbles in the side ‘A’ and fill up column in side ‘B’ of the application. Candidates must fill up both sides of the application. Each application form contains a unique eight-digit barcode on side ‘A’. This barcodeis unique for each application. The candidate has to quote this number for further communication. The cost of application form is Rs.10/- (Rupees ten only). The application should be filled in accordance with the directions contained in the information brochure supplied along with the application. The application can be obtained from Post Offices in Kerala and Offices of the Commission.
Note:- 1. No copies of documents should be attached with the application Copies of documents should be produced as and when called for.
2. Applications should be submitted in the form devised and printed by the KPSC and those applications submitted otherwise will summarily be rejected.

(3) Applications should not be sent to more than one District in response to this notification. Reservation community candidates should submit application for this post to the concerned district officer where the vacancy is existing for their respective community and should note the name of that district against the relevant column in side `B` of the application and darken the relevant bubble in side ‘A’ of the OMR sheet. The address of the district officers to which the applications are to be sent is furnished in column (10) of the notification.
(4) The selection in pursuance of the notification will be made on a revenue district basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O.(MS) No. 154/71/PD., dated 27-5-1971.
