Note: - The Ranked list published in pursuance
of this notification shall cease to be in force after a period of one year
from the date of finalization of the ranked list or after one month from the
date of commencement of the training in respect of the last batch selected
from the date of finalization of the ranked list whichever is later. Recruitment
will be made for the above vacancy and also for the vacancies reported for
Special Recruitment for exclusively Scheduled Tribe during the pendency of
the list.
5. Method of Appointment:
Direct Recruitment (from among Scheduled
Tribes only)
Note: - Applications received from candidates
other than Scheduled Tribe candidates will be rejected. Individual communications
regarding the rejection of their applications for the above reason will not
be issued.
6. Age limit: Should have completed 18 (Eighteen)
years and should not have completed
35 (Thirty Five) years as on 01.01.2008.
[No other age relaxation will be allowed].
7. Qualifications:
1. Must have passed SSLC or equivalent
Examination.
2. Must possess current Motor Driving
Licence with endorsement for driving heavy goods vehicles or heavy passenger
vehicles.
3. Must not be less
than 160 Cms in height (without foot wear). Must
not be less than 48 Kg in Weight and must not be less than
76 cms round the chest with a minimum expansion of not less
than 5 cms.
4. Must have had practical experience
as Mechanic in a well established Automobile Workshop for a period of not
less than three years.
Note: - 1. A Certificate issued on completion
of a course of Training as Driver Mechanic in the State Transport Workshop,
or in any Government approved workshop stating that the individual concerned
is fit to hold the post of Driver Mechanic shall be treated as equivalent to
the practical experience specified in qualification (4) above.
2. Completion of successful qualifying course of training as Driver Mechanic
for a period of six months under a qualified Driver Mechanic of the Fire and
Rescue Services Department in the Fire Service Training School or any major
Fire Station of the State shall also be treated as equivalent to the practical
experience specified in qualification (4) above.

Practical experience should be one acquired after obtaining the basic qualification
and prior to the last date fixed for receipt of application for this post as
per the Gazette Notification.
4. Experience Certificate should be
certified by the Controlling Officer/ Head of Department in the Government Department.

Genuineness of the certificates will be verified and legal action will be taken
against the authority issuing false certificate and the candidates who produce
false experience certificates.
6. Women
candidates and physically handicapped persons are not eligible to apply for
the post.
7. A Physical
Efficiency Test will be conducted by the Commission to assess the Physical Standards
and suitability of the candidates for the arduous nature of work. Must qualify
in at least 4 out of eight (8) items of physical efficiency test, showing the
minimum standard of efficiency noted against each item. (Physical measurements
of the candidates will be taken before the commencement of the physical efficiency
test. Candidates with required physical measurement alone will be admitted for
the physical efficiency test).

Note: - Candidates should produce a Medical
Certificate issued by a Medical Officer not below the rank of Civil Surgeon
Grade II as to their Physique, Fitness Capacity for rough outdoor work and also
of the visual standards, if they satisfy the physical measurements and come
out successful in the physical efficiency test.
Preferential: - Other conditions
being equal, the Home Guard Volunteers, who have completed a term of three years
in that organization and who have satisfactorily undergone training in Fire
Fighting, during the period of tenure, will be treated as having preferential
qualification for recruitment to the post.
Probation: - Every person
appointed to the post shall, from the date on which he joins duty, after he
completes the training and examinations be on probation for a total period of
two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
Training: - Selected candidates
should undergo a course of training for a period of 4 months in the state Fire
Service Training School and pass the examination in the subject prescribed for
the course.
Note: A Written and Practical Test shall be conducted at the close of
training. Those who fail to qualify themselves at the test will have their training
extended for a period of one month at the end of which they will be tested again
in the subject in which they have failed. Those who fail to qualify themselves
in the re-test will be discharged from service.
Bond: Every person appointed
to the post shall execute a bond intending to serve the Force for a period of
not less than 5 years and to pay to Government, a sum of Rs.2, 700/- in case
of failure to serve in the Force for the said period.
8. Last date of receipt of applications: 14/05/2008 Wednesday
upto 5.00 P.M.
9. Application Form: The applications
can be submitted through either On-line or through the prescribed Application
Form (Conventional). The Application form is a single sheet of paper specially
designed for processing through Optical Mark Reader (OMR) also. Candidates have
to fill up both sides of the application. Each Application form contains a
unique eight-digit barcode on side A. This barcode number is unique for each
application. The candidate has to quote this number for further enquiries.
The application forms will be available in the Post Offices inside the State
and Offices of the Kerala Public Service Commission.The
cost of application form for ST candidates of Kerala is Rs.5/- (Rupees Five
only). An information brochure will be supplied with the application form. Candidates
should read the instructions carefully before filling up the form. Candidates
should not enclose any documents along with the application. Copies of documents
to prove educational qualification, experience, age, community etc., should
be produced as and when called for by the Commission. Application should be
submitted in the form devised and printed by the Kerala Public Service Commission
and applications otherwise submitted will be summarily rejected.
The application can be submitted by on line facility also provided in the website
of the Kerala Public Service Commission. Detailed instructions regarding the
submission of applications are available in the website of the Kerala Public
Service Commission viz., www.keralapsc.org No application fee is
required. The barcode number in the application form (from the website) shall
be quoted in all further enquiries/Correspondence. Documents to prove qualification,
age and community have to be produced as and when called for. Application which
are submitted not in accordance with the instructions given in the website will
be summarily rejected.

11. Paragraphs
two, three and twenty seven of the General conditions are not applicable to
this selection. 12.
Appointments are made subject to the rank secured in the ranked list of
candidates prepared in pursuance of this notification subject to the conditions
laid down in G O (P) No.25/94/GAD dtd 22.1.1994 allowing Special Reservations
to Scheduled Tribes in accordance with the procedures made for this purpose
from time to time and subject to the rules under Sections 3 (C) 17(a), 17 (b)
of Part II of Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1958.
